Restoring and Preserving Wildlife Habitat

Funding from mitigation projects helps restore and preserve habitat for many species of wildlife. With each new project, park visitors are provided opportunities for nature observation and environmental education.

Through mitigation funding, the Park District has protected ecologically sensitive stream and river corridors, planted thousands of native trees in former agricultural fields, and successfully restored wetland habitat vital to many species of wildlife.
