Make it happen, Volunteer with Preservation Parks!

Volunteers In the Parks (VIPs) are essential to Preservation Parks of Delaware County and our mission to protect our natural and historic resources and inspire outdoor exploration and learning. Preservation Parks offers diverse, fun, and educational volunteer opportunities for individuals, families, community groups, student projects, scout groups, school groups, and more. Listed below are categories and volunteer roles which we invite you consider. Come play with us!

To see a complete list of volunteer roles, click on the Volunteer Application link, below, and scroll down to see the various opportunities and their descriptions. Volunteers also receive a monthly e-newsletter, full of opportunities and a nature note. And, as volunteers accumulate hours, they earn other perks, such as discounts on programs and shelter reservations! Click here for details.

Outdoor Connections Volunteers:

Would you like to lead or facilitate learning opportunities? Volunteers assist park staff during public nature programs, create displays, and help with special projects. Volunteers may also assist staff at Gallant Farm sharing about rural life on a Depression era farm.

Land Stewards:

If spending time outdoors and promoting wildlife is your calling, then Preservation Parks offers a number of volunteer opportunities for you. Pull invasive plants, monitor a bird box trail, be a grounds & trail keeper, maintain a native plant garden, participate in a number of citizen science opportunities, and attend Bio Blitz events.

Parks Marketing Ambassadors:

Spread the message about Preservation Parks and programs we offer by representing us at community events. Host park information booths, walk in community parades, dress in an adorable park mascot costume, share photos you take in the parks with our staff, and assist in our district office.

Special Events:

Preservation Parks special events can draw hundreds of participants, and require a team of enthusiastic volunteers before, during and after the event. Special events include our popular Trick or Treat Trail, Winter Evening on the Farm, Perseid Meteor Shower Campout and more.

Guest Services:

Visitor Center Attendants host the nature center at Deer Haven Park, which is open daily from noon to 5 pm. If you enjoy interacting with people, responding to questions, and making guests feel excited to be in the parks, consider this volunteer role.
