Facilities & Rentals

Preservation Parks offers facilities for rent for group activities, such as family reunions, weddings, corporate retreats and public meetings. The Indoor Facilities at Deer Haven and Shale Hollow Preserves are available for business-related events and meetings only; the Picnic Shelters at Emily Traphagen, Gallant Woods and Blues Creek Preserves are available for both business and social events.

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted within the parks or facilities.

Indoor Facilities

Mary McCoy Nature Center at Hogback Ridge Preserve The McKay Lodge at Shale Hollow Preserve

Business meeting space is available in the meeting room, by reservation only, with access to the meeting space, kitchen, restrooms and outdoor deck. Maximum capacity is 20.

    • Corporate fee:
         $175 for a four-hour block; four hours minimum. The fee for additional time is $40 per hour.
         $75 deposit, returned to renter if condition of the facility remains as it was prior to the rental.
    • Non-profit organizations, clubs and schools:
         $80 for a four-hour block; four hours minimum. The fee for additional time is $20 per hour.
         $75 deposit, returned to renter if condition of the facility remains as it was prior to the rental.

The Lodge at Deer Haven Preserve The Lodge at Deer Haven Preserve

Business meeting space is available in the classroom, with access to the kitchen, as part of the rental. The Nature Center and library also are accessible during public open hours, Noon - 5 p.m.

    • Corporate fee:
         $175 for a four-hour block; four hours minimum. The fee for additional time is $40 per hour.
         $75 deposit, returned to renter if condition of the facility remains as it was prior to the rental.
    • Non-profit organizations, clubs and schools:
         $80 for a four-hour block; four hours minimum. The fee for additional time is $20 per hour.
         $75 deposit, returned to renter if condition of the facility remains as it was prior to the rental.

The McKay Lodge at Shale Hollow Preserve can be reserved for business meetings only, at the following times year round:

8 a.m. – 5 p.m.


The Lodge at Deer Haven Preserve can be reserved for business meetings only, at the following times (The Lodge is not available June-mid-August, as summer camps are being held):

Winter (November – February): 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Summer (March – October): 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.


 

Picnic Shelters

Blues Creek Preserve

Two reservable picnic shelters, capacity 20 each, with charcoal grills and adjacent playground

  • Restroom, drinking fountain.
  • No electricity in shelters.
  • Catch-and-release fishing pond
  • Sledding hill
  • $60 for a four-hour block of time; four hours minimum; $20 each additional hour
  • $45 deposit, returned to the renter if the condition of the facility remains as it was prior to the rental

Fritz Guth ShelterEmily Traphagen Preserve

Reservable picnic shelter, capacity 50, with charcoal grills, electricity and fireplace

  • Restroom, drinking fountain, running water and horseshoe pit
  • Playground
  • $60 for a four-hour block of time; four hours minimum; $20 each additional hour
  • $45 deposit, returned to the renter if the condition of the facility remains as it was prior to the rental

Gallant Woods ShelterGallant Woods Preserve

Reservable picnic shelter, capacity 60, with charcoal grills and electricity

  • Horseshoe pit, playground
  • Restrooms and running water
  • $60 for a four-hour block of time; four hours minimum; $20 each additional hour
  • $45 deposit, returned to the renter if the condition of the facility remains as it was prior to the rental

Shelters are reservable at the following times:

Winter (October – April): 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Summer (May – September): 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
