Look for these oddly-shaped spiders with a large rear and spiny black
projections as you walk through the woods this time of year. .
They build their large orb webs, with a tight spiral, "face
high" across walking paths.
The spiders are harmless to humans and you could practice
your limbo skills as you try to avoid destroying their webs.
Preservation Parks offers a
variety of workshops and programs that will appeal to a broad range of
interests, including hands-on activities, lectures and temporary displays.
Photo Club
Are you new to photography? Perhaps you have been out in the field for years and would like
to share your tips and tricks for taking that perfect shot?
Join others who enjoy nature and photography for a planning session to assess the level of
interest, and to determine dates and times for meetings, possible topics or
speakers, and other club information.
The photo club meets at 1 p.m., usually the
second Sunday of each month. Please refer to calendar for specific dates.

After a short introduction to the problems
associated with invasive plants and some control methods, you will have an
opportunity to help the Park District by removing some of these pests from the
parks with our natural resources staff. Come dressed to work off- trail.
We recommend bringing gloves and some water. Tools will be provided; if you have
a favorite pair of loppers, please bring them. No registration required.
